On Friday 22nd September students from Sigma Sixth, Colchester took part in their first STEM Academy event of the year. Students were given a behind the scenes campus tour where they explored the fascinating Marine Biology laboratories at the University of Essex and worked in the state of the art STEM Centre where they extracted and analysed E-coli DNA.
The students got the opportunity to use equipment and undertake tasks that they would not usually have the chance to do in a school or college setting. These hands-on practical activities certainly inspired our students.
A massive thank you to the Outreach Team at the University of Essex for such a fabulous experience.
