Careers

As a student at the Philip Morant School & College, our aim is to enable you to make fully informed decisions on your careers pathway, as well as prepare you for life in the world of work. We will do this by:

  • Developing your skills and personal attributes that employers want in their workforce. This will be accomplished through a range of activities including working alongside local businesses and employers.
  • Inspiring and motivating you by giving you the tools you need to fulfil your potential. We want you to have high aspirations and consider a broad and ambitious range of careers.

Across your time at school, you will have access to impartial information, advice and guidance, careers and work-related education and be guided through subject options. We will also provide you with regular opportunities to learn about technical education and apprenticeships, including:

  • 2 encounters during the ‘first key phase’ (year 8 or 9)
  • 2 encounters during the ‘second key phase’ (year 10 or 11)
  • 2 encounters during the ‘third key phase’ (year 12 or 13)

If you would like more information, please speak to Mr Randall or Miss Willis.

Informed Choices This website from the Russell Group gives good guidance on subject choice if opting to do A-Levels post 16.

Higher and Degree Apprenticeships

Higher and Degree Apprenticeships are a new education route, recently launched by the Government, bringing together the best of higher and vocational training. This new option enables university study and the invaluable on-the-job training typical of an Apprenticeship, without having to cover the cost of tuition.
