A Level Physics Trip – Sizewell B

Our Year 12 and 13 ‘A’ level physics students visited Sizewell B nuclear power station on Tuesday 17th October. The students enjoyed seeing the turbine hall, and the heat in the turbine hall, where they were 5 cm away from the turbines spinning faster than the speed of sound. They were amazed by the size of the power station and the number of staff who worked maintaining the site. Kitty hawks were visible on the old Sizewell A water inlets. The trip included a short drive to Aldeburgh for fish and chips and a bracing walk by the sea – just before the storm!
