GCSE Results Day 2023

Congratulations to Hasib and Ghezaal who were celebrating results in August. Having been forced to leave Afghanistan they have resettled in Colchester and have achieved excellent results: Hasib achieving 9 GCSEs with grade 6s in science. He is planning to study A levels at Colchester Sixth form college. Ghezaal achieved 7 GCSEs with 5 of them at grade 5 and above. She is staying at the school to complete A levels at Sigma Sixth. They were both provided the opportunity to complete GCSE Persian achieving exceptional grades 8 and 9. It has been such a privilege to have them both as part of our school community. They are grateful for the support shown to them by their form tutors as they started their new life in the UK.

Mary achieved 9 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s. She puts her success down to the over 2000 revision flash cards she created and the extra support given by teachers to help her revise. She will go on to take A levels in Fine Art, Graphic Design and Philosophy.

Bella achieved 4 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s, 4 grade 7s and a grade 6. She found the approach to year 11 by teachers really good to manage, with revision well planned and lots of support. She will go on to study Geography, History of Art and English at A level.

Chris achieved 3 grade 9s, 6 grade 8s and 2 grade 7s. He credits his success to his English teacher, his friends who helped motivate him to revise and the passion he had for his subjects. He will go on to study Physics, Maths and English Literature

Peter who has excelled in his studies achieving 9 grade 9s, 2 grade 8s and a grade 7. He will be studying A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics.

Our Art and Photography students made exceptional progress with 12 students achieving the highest grade 9. Ahead of the launch of our creative academy in Sigma Sixth, we are delighted to see such talent in creative subjects and the high levels of effort that has gone in to produce this amazing work.

James could always be relied on to be at every school event helping as part of the prefect team. We are delighted he is staying with us for Sigma Sixth for A levels, we are sure he’ll be running the school by the time he finishes. He is so grateful for the supportive culture that was there for him at a difficult time for him personally. He doesn’t think there is another school that would have given him that same opportunity. He achieved 5s and 6s in his GCSE Grades and we are very proud of the way he has applied himself to every aspect of school life.

Preston made excellent progress achieving 2.5 grades higher than would be expected across his subjects, achieving grade 7s in English and good grades in all other subjects. He says he was in bottom sets in year 9 but realised as he started year 10 how much he needed to do to do well at GCSE. He is so grateful for all the support from his teachers and the way he proved to himself what he could achieve and the way teachers responded to that.

Star is overwhelmingly grateful for the support given to her at Philip Morant School and for the leap of faith taken to offer her a place at the school after she had been excluded from her previous school. She says it has changed her life forever. She is so thankful to the amazing staff. Out of the three schools she has been in, she has never met such supportive staff. She achieved an amazing 3 grade 9s, 5 grade 7s and a grade 6. She is starting A levels in English, Philosophy and Psychology in September.
