User Interfaces

Learners will develop their understanding of what makes an effective user interface and how to effectively manage a project, they will learn about the characteristics of different types of interfaces and how design skills are used to create suitable and accessibile interfaces suitable for a specific audience. Learners will learn how to create project planning documents such as Gantt Charts , mood boards and they will learn to write SMART objectives. They will use this understanding to plan, design and create a user interface for their Set Assignment

Encourage students to review skills learnt in lesson and to try to recreate interfaces they see in real life as well as evaluate the design choices use for interfaces they interact with.

Spring Term 1

Students will complete the set assignment on User Interfaces which is worth 30% of their final grade.

Students will apply their knowledge to a real-life scenario provided by the exam board.

Rhetoric

Students will be assessed through practical tasks and work in lessons.

User Interfaces / Coursework 1

Learners will develop their understanding of what makes an effective user interface and how to effectively manage a project, they will learn about the characteristics of different types of interfaces and how design skills are used to create suitable and accessibile interfaces suitable for a specific audience. Encourage students to review skills learnt in lesson and to try to recreate interfaces they see in real life as well as evaluate the design choices use for interfaces they interact with. Encourage students to keep up-to-date with lesson notes and to review their notes as these will support them with their set assignment.

Coursework 1 / Working Practices

Grammar

Students will complete the set assignment on User Interfaces which is worth 30% of their final grade. Students will learn how to use modern technologies such as cloud computing. They will learn how businesses use technology to support business process and communications.

Dialectic

Students will apply their knowledge to a real-life scenario provided by the exam board. Working Practices will be assessed via lessons, exam-style questions and homework used to test and embed learning.

Rhetoric

Students will be assessed through practical tasks and end of topic exam-style assessments.

Coursework 1 / Working Practices

Learners will develop their understanding of what makes an effective user interface and how to effectively manage a project, they will learn about the characteristics of different types of interfaces and how design skills are used to create suitable and accessibile interfaces suitable for a specific audience. Learners will learn how to create project planning documents such as Gantt Charts , mood boards and they will learn to write SMART objectives. They will use this understanding to plan, design and create a user interface for their Set Assignment. Learners will learn to manipulate data for a given purpose, using spreadsheets

 

Whilst students are completing their set assignment, please encourage them to review their notes as this is what will support them in their work. When students are completing theory work students should review their notes and also make use of the school revision platform for this subject which is erevision.uk, and access past exam papers from the EDEXCEL website to practice exam technique.

How can I support this unit at home...

Interpreting Data

Learners will learn to manipulate data for a given purpose, using spreadsheets. They will learn how to interpret analysed data and use this to make conclusions and recommendations for a specific business purpose

Students should review their notes from lesson and practice all practical skills needed to analyse data in spreadsheets. They can use google sheets for free with their school log-in for this. Websites such as BBC Bitesize and Teach-ICT will help them to recap skills too
