On Monday 4th March, the Institute for Engineering and Technology (IET) delivered their annual STEM Faraday Challenge to selected Year 8 students from Philip Morant, Paxman and St Helena. This is an annual competition of STEM activity days with a real-world challenge for students aged between 12 and 13 years.
The brief this year was to design and build one prototype which could support road users in our local area. We are delighted that Team 4 from Philip Morant were the winners, presenting a solution which relied on a pressure plate to light up street lights at night to save on electricity use but still provide ample light for road users at night.
